The Gospel of Matthew: "Salt of the Earth"

Mar 1, 2026    Pastor Robby Robinson Jr.

This Sunday we’re diving into Matthew 5:13–16 and Mark 9:42–50 as we explore what it really means to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs Jesus. Jesus didn’t say you might become salt someday. He said, “You ARE the salt of the earth.” Salt preserves. Salt enhances flavor. Salt purifies.

But salt that loses its flavor becomes useless. In Mark 9, Jesus raises the stakes — calling us to remove whatever causes us to sin so we don’t lose our effectiveness. Being salt and light isn’t passive. It’s intentional. It’s holy. It’s influential.

This message will challenge us to ask:

- Are we influencing the world — or is the world influencing us?

- Have we allowed compromise to dull our witness?

- Are our lives pointing people toward praise of the Father?

We were not created just to attend church — We were created to bring the influence of Jesus into every space we step into.
