The Gospel of Matthew "Jesus Calls the Disciples"
Jesus Calls the Disciples | Matthew 4:12–22
In this message, we examine the moment Jesus calls His first disciples and what that call requires of us today. As Jesus begins His public ministry, He proclaims, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near,”inviting people not just to believe, but to fully surrender their lives.
Jesus reveals Himself as the Light in the darkness, fulfilling God’s plan and calling ordinary fishermen to leave everything behind and follow Him. This passage challenges us to see the difference between simply being part of the crowd and truly living in allegiance to Christ.
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” — Matthew 16:24
This message invites us to ask an honest question: Am I accompanying Jesus, or am I truly following Him?
