The Gospel of Matthew | The Beatitudes | Part 2

(Matthew 5:1–6)

In the opening words of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus doesn’t describe religious performance, personality types, or spiritual achievements. Instead, He reveals a progression of the heart—what happens inside a person when they place themselves in a position for the Kingdom of God to take hold.

In this message, we explore Matthew 5:3–6 and discover how the Kingdom begins and grows through four unexpected postures:

* Poverty of spirit that empties us of self-sufficiency

* Mourning that softens our hearts and leads to God’s comfort

* Meekness that releases control and trusts God with outcomes

* Hunger and thirst for righteousness that awakens desire and leads to true fullness

Jesus shows us an upside-down truth: the Kingdom is not achieved by strength, effort, or religious success—it is received by those who come with empty hands and honest hearts.

Whether you’re new to Scripture or have been in church for years, this message invites you to stop striving, stop pretending, and come honestly before God—because the Kingdom belongs to those who know they need Him.
